Tiramisu is a classic no bake dessert that’s perfect for making ahead. That’s why it’s such a great option for parties and entertaining because it’s totally delicious and so easy to make.
This recipe is a spin on the classic Italian dessert, but adds strawberries and so many delicious flavors. Here, I keep it extra simple using just a few ingredients without any worry of raw eggs.
While the classic tiramisu recipe soaks the ladyfingers in espresso, this recipe instead uses strawberry jam mixed with Grand Marnier or strawberry liqueur if you have it. However, if you are serving this to kids, you can skip the alcohol entirely and just use orange juice.
You’re going to love how creamy and flavorful this recipe is. The mascarpone and whipped cream give it that classic tiramisu flavor that makes the dish so popular.
The layer of strawberries in the middle of the dish add a beautiful texture and flavor as well. Plus, it’s a pretty pop of color making this a great dish for easy entertaining.

Ingredients and Substitutions
- Ladyfingers: ladyfingers are a sponge cake biscuit that are a great for soaking up the flavors of this strawberry tiramisu. You can find them in most grocery stores. Slices of pound cake would be a great substitution here.
- Heavy Cream: you need the creaminess of the whipped heavy cream to really add body and flavor to the tiramisu.
- Powdered Sugar: there isn’t much sugar in this recipe. The powdered sugar adds just the right amount of sweetness and dissolves perfectly into the heavy cream.
- Mascarpone Cheese: mascarpone adds that classic flavor and texture this recipe. You can substitute cream cheese in a pinch.
- Strawberry Jam: use seedless strawberry jam here so that you get a smooth creamy bite every time.
- Vanilla: just a bit of vanilla extract adds great flavor here. If you love strawberry flavor, you can add a ½ teaspoon of strawberry extract.
- Strawberries: fresh organic strawberries are ideal. Dry them well before using and slicing.
- Grand Marnier: for the soak, you can use classic Grand Marnier or, if you have a strawberry-flavored liqueur, that works too. To make this recipe alcohol free, just use orange juice instead.
How to Make Strawberry Tiramisu
As with all tiramisu recipes, you want to make sure to prepare Strawberry Tiramisu a day in advance to allow the flavors to come together and the ladyfingers to soften.
Step 1: make the cream
To make the cream layer for the tiramisu, start by beating together the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla. Mix until the cream can hold peaks; about 2 minutes.
Next, add in the mascarpone cheese. Whisk it until the mascarpone is well incorporated into the heavy cream mixture; set aside.
Step 2: soak the ladyfingers
Make the soak for the ladyfingers. Just whisk together the seedless strawberry jam, Grand Marnier (or orange juice), and a splash of water to loosen the mixture.
Layer the bottom of a 9 x 9 inch pan with soaked ladyfingers. Just dip the ladyfingers in the soak and line them in the bottom of the baking dish.
Step 3: layer the strawberry tiramisu
Next, dollop half of the cream mixture on top of the ladyfingers. Use a spatula or knife to spread the mixture overtop in an even layer.
Slice half of the strawberries and layer them on top of the whipped cream layer. Repeat the layer of soaked ladyfingers and whipped cream topping. Don’t add the final layer or strawberries to the top of the tiramisu yet.
Step 4: cover and refrigerate
Place a sheet of plastic wrap on top of the tiramisu making sure it’s on tight. Refrigerate for at least 12 hours, ideally 24 hours if possible.
Finish off the dish by placing sliced strawberries on top. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Soak for the Ladyfingers
Traditional tiramisu soak for ladyfingers includes coffee and marsala. Here, however, we are using different ingredients to play up the flavors of the strawberry tiramisu.
The soak includes seedless strawberry jam, Grand Marnier, and a splash of water. However, you can change up the flavors depending on preferences.
To make this recipe kid-friendly, simply swap out the liqueur for orange juice. Or, to play up the strawberry flavor, use a strawberry liqueur or add a splash of strawberry extract.
Leftover soak should be poured on top of the ladyfingers before adding the final layer of whipped cream.
Recipe Tips
- Grand Marnier Soak: to make this without alcohol, you can substitute orange juice for the Grand Marnier, or even extra strawberry jam and water. If you wanted more strawberry flavor, add strawberry liqueur instead. For a milder flavor, substitute water for half of the Grand Marnier in the soak.
- Strawberries: make sure you are using the freshest and ripest strawberries you can find. And be sure not to add the final layer of strawberries on top of the tiramisu until after it comes out of the refrigerator.
- Ladyfingers: these crunchy biscuits can be found in the cookie section of most grocery stores, or you can order them online. One package (24 cookies) should be enough for this recipe. Be sure to cut the ladyfingers to fit in the pan and save the leftover pieces for the top layer.
- Refrigeration: plan ahead when making strawberry tiramisu. To give the recipe optimal flavor and to get the ladyfingers soft, this dish should chill for at least 12 hours, but 24 hours is ideal.

Thank you for this freshly sweet and zesty twist to the traditional tiramisu Angela. Just what I needed to entice and please my young girls with!
Yay! So happy you all enjoyed it 🙂
This recipe looks like exactly what I need – except right now I can’t afford the Grand Marnier. I do have amaretto in the house and wondered if that would be a good substitute.
Amaretto would be amazing in this recipe!
I found that the lady fingers are now smaller than in the past. I used an8x8 and it was still too big. I would definitely make again with 2 packs of fingers and double the filling for a 9×9
That’s good to know. Thanks, Sharon!
This looks so elegant and delicious. Perfect to bring to a ladies’ gathering or shower!
yes! It would be perfect 🙂
