Pasta e Ceci

Italian Pasta e Ceci is a simple and delicious dish made with chickpeas and small round pasta!

Pasta e Ceci is a classic Italian recipe made with  pasta and chickpeas and takes just 30 minutes to put together!

All you need is chickpeas, pasta, onions, rosemary, olive oil, tomato paste, garlic, and broth.

Start by cooking the onions in the oil over medium heat until they are softened.

Add in chili flakes, tomato paste, chopped rosemary, and minced garlic. Stir to combine.

Add in two cans of drained and rinsed chickpeas and broth. Cook for 10 minutes.

Optional: Puree about a cup of the chickpeas to help thicken the broth. You can use an immersion blender here.

Add in the small pasta shells. I like ditalini pasta here. Cook, stirring frequently, until al dente.

Let the Pasta e Ceci sit for a couple of minutes for the broth to thicken slightly.

Serve with grated parmesan cheese. This is a great light main course or starter dish.
